Naturally we get a decent amount of Inositol from the foods we eat like citrus fruits bananas, brown rice and nuts. However, consumption of alcohol, caffeinated beverages and higher levels of oestrogen can deplete inositol in our bodies.
Inositol is vital to healthy cell membranes (especially specialized cells in the brain, bone marrow, eyes, and intestines). It affects nerve transmission.

Weight loss - 1/4 to 1/2 tspn before sleep in water/juice.
Inositol helps break down fats & fats in the liver. When taken with other B vitamins, Choline and Methionine, Inositol may help with weight loss. Inositol has also been found to lower cholesterol and break up cholesterol deposits in the arteries.

Anxiety/OCD - Begin with 3/4 tspns/day in two divided doses dissolved in water/juice. 2nd & 3rd week increase 3/4 tspns/week/day in three divided doses. 3rd week take 2.4 tspns/day in divided doses. Maintain this level for milder depression and anxiety disorders. Continue to increase to 18 grams for OCD and more moderate depression and anxiety over the next two weeks.
Inositol has a calming effect as it is involved in the production and action of neurotransmitters like serotonin and acetylcholine. Considered a brain food as it works with choline in brain cell nutrition.

PCOS/Female Infertility - 2/3 tspn daily with Folic Acid (2/3 tspn daily) in water/juice.
Women who have polycystic ovary syndrome, a leading cause of infertility, may ovulate more often if they use Inositol in conjunction with Folic Acid.
